Job description

Position Summary
This position requires an individual to support a broad array of actuarial and other technical activities in support of a significant block of COLI/BOLI business and associated Stable Value coverage.  Responsibilities include product management, financial analysis, pricing oversight, modeling, reinsurance analysis, financial reporting and experience analysis.
Additional components of the role include:

  • Providing external actuarial client management in the servicing business
  • Providing technical analysis and support to Operations, Underwriting, and Sales departments
  • Responding to complex policyholder inquiries
  • Evaluating Stable Value performance
  • Developing models to analyze policy performance
  • Performing experience analyses
  • Supporting Policy illustrations
  • Administration systems development and maintenance efforts
This position is housed within Lombard International’s Actuarial Department and has high visibility throughout the organization. This position is located in Philadelphia, PA.
  • Provide key technical input on new product initiatives and product pricing assignments
  • Provide product management and illustration support for various life insurance and annuity products, including both variable and non-variable lines of business and both private placement and registered variable products
  • Oversee maintenance and development of life insurance and annuity illustration systems
  • Provide ad-hoc actuarial support on special projects (e.g., M&A activities, reinsurance treaty development, etc.)
  • Working with stable value providers to evaluate new transaction opportunities
  • Support financial reporting activities (U.S. GAAP, STAT, and Tax)
  • Work with other departments (e.g., IT, Underwriting, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Finance, etc.) to navigate technical product issues and respond to customer requests
  • Work with external parties (e.g., auditors, reinsurers, brokers, clients, client advisors, outside service providers, etc.) as needed to maintain high-level of customer service
  • Supervise one or more Actuarial students
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience supporting BOLI/COLI product knowledge
  • Experience with life insurance modeling and/or valuation work
  • Experience with life insurance illustration and/or administration system development and programming
  • Ability to supervise and/or mentor staff
  • Strong Excel/VBA skills a must
  • Adheres to high standards for accuracy and pays attention to details

  • Bachelor’s in business, actuarial science, math, statistics, computer science, or other related fields
  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) necessary
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) preferred
  • Significant experience with COLI/BOLI Life Insurance
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a technical life insurance role (e.g., actuarial, analytics/model development, illustration or administration system programming, etc.)
  • Product management or product development experience a plus
  • Actuarial valuation or modelling experience a plus
  • Knowledge of MG-ALFA a plus
  • Knowledge of APL a plus
