Pat Baird

Mr. Baird is the retired President and CEO of AEGON USA LLC, one of the largest life insurance and pension organizations in North America. He also joined the Management Board of its parent company, AEGON NV, and served as international board member until his retirement in 2010. In addition to operating responsibilities for the US operations, Baird had responsibilities for AEGON’s operations in Latin America and Asia. Mr. Baird continues to serve AEGON USA and is involved in various strategic projects both here in the US and in Latin America.

Mr. Baird spent his entire 33 year professional career at AEGON USA and served in various capacities throughout the organization. He served as Chief Tax Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer prior to becoming CEO in 2002. He also led the firm’s mergers and acquisitions activities from 1990 until 2002 and competed over $12 billion of transactions in the US and in Latin America. From 2004 until 2010, Mr. Baird served the life insurance industry as executive committee board member of the American Council of Life Insurers, the trade organization representing 90% of the life insurance industry. Mr. Baird’s tenure as Chairman of the organization was from October of 2008 until October of 2009, which was at the height of the financial crisis. In his role as Chairman, Mr. Baird testified on behalf of the industry with the Senate Finance Committee, House Financial Services Committee and numerous times with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Today, Mr. Baird serves on the boards of QCR Holdings, a community bank holding company listed on the NASDAQ, and Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust, a subsidiary of QCR Holdings. He is also Vice Chairman of Akaan Aegon, a joint venture startup in Latin America engaged currently in the asset management business. Mr. Baird is active in his local community by serving on the boards of the Easterrn Iowa Airport Commission and is Treasurer and founding director of the Zach Johnson Foundation.
